“Atmosphere” 是 Joy Division 1980年发行的单曲, 一开始并未受重视, 只在 Lichit und Blindheit (仅限法国发售) 的B-side.
主唱 Ian Curtis 死后, 它被重新发售, 和 “She’s Lost Control” (Alternative Version) 一起. 1988年因为合辑 Substance 被再次发售, 并由 Anton Corbijn 拍摄了mv. 他后来在2007年拍了 Ian Curtis 的传记片 Control.
Peter Hook 说他认为这是 Joy Division 最好的作品. 另外它也在 2000年 John Peel‘ 的 Radio 1 节目中, 被评为是 20世纪最伟大的歌.
关于这张合辑 Substance, 如果你听 Joy Division 的话, 这张合辑是必须有的, 因为它还包括 “Digital“, “Transmission” 和 “Love Will Tear Us Apart“, 这三首经典都没有收录在前两张录音室专辑里.
